A leading cryptocurrency exchange approached us with a critical performance bottleneck in their order matching engine. Their existing system built in Python was unable to handle the increased trading volume, resulting in significant latency issues. We rebuilt the core matching engine from scratch in Rust, implementing lock-free data structures and SIMD optimizations. The result was a 12,000% improvement in throughput while maintaining sub-millisecond P99 latency even under peak load.
